My Rating: 4.5 Stars

Synopsis:

it's almost
time for war.

Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.

She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.

Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.

In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.

My Review:

Since this was a re-read review, there will be spoilers in this review for this book and the rest of the series, so I suggest leaving this page if you have not already read the books.

So let's just start here. I'll go with Adam first. This is going to be an Adam bash at the moment, so if you like him, scroll on! I should have noticed the first time I read this series that he was so freaking controlling and manipulative. He constantly ignores Juliette's wishes to not only protect him from herself, but for her to protect her own mental stability. He keeps pursuing her when she tells him to back off and will not accept that she can be her own person. Whenever she attempts to have a calm interaction with him, he makes a scene and tries her to "win her back." I can honestly say that I do not like Adam as a character at all. He is an emotional abuser to a girl who has already been through enough.

We get to see Warner as a human being in this book. First, with the dog, then with his father, then as a prisoner. He wants a connection to someone, anyone, but specifically Juliette. We get to  see her and Warner getting closer in this book, but only in private. He acknowledges his flaws, something that Adam never does. When he tells Juliette "It was like meeting a friend for the first time," ugh, it's so heartbreaking. He is prepared to be killed at Omega Point, which, again, is heartbreaking. Ugh, and learning about Warner's scars for the first time and how they came from his father on his birthdays. This gives Juliette another glimpse past his mask which he promptly snaps up once he wakes and finds her in his room. (This is the first moment she starts to fall for him.) HE DOESN'T PUSH HER TOO FAR TO BE WITH HIM!!!!! He's okay with being her friend first, then finding out where to go from there.

Warner believes in Juliette and wants her to be the best bersion of herself. He is so in love with her that it husts. She is his point of brightness in the dak to help him get through the pain. And how he memorizes her journal to feel closer to her. HE IS HER WHITE BIRD!!! He sees himself in her--it's a true connection. He recognizes his mistakes and apologizes for his actions, even if he thought he was in the right.

Juliette has to learn to deal with not being with Adam-to accept the fact he is the wrong one for her.

Warner truly believes he's a monster without the ability to  be redeemed-he doesn't believe he deserves to be happy. Which is interesting because of the introduction of his powers of empathy. Warner accepts her pain and allows her to let it out without any expectations-he lso tells her that he was the one who hurt Kenji to help her calm down.

Adam always makes a scene when he doesn't get what he wants. Like when he finds out Warner can touch Juliette, he throws a temper tantrum.

Kenji is the literal best. He tries to help everyone I hate that he gets hurt by Juliette's power (even if it wasn't her fault). He pulls Juliette our of her funk. He cares for everyone, and he is such a freaking schemer.

Chapter 62, Am I right? Warner likes it hot!

Quotes I loved:

"Tattoos, for example, are very hard to forget. I think there's something about the impermanence of life these days that makes it necessary to etch ink into our skins. It reminds us that we've been marked by the world, that we're still alive. That we'll never forget."  - Warner, Chapter 52

"O wonder what it would be like to speak out loud and be heard." Juliette's Journal, Chapter 45
